What is EN ISO 20345 Certificate ?
EN ISO 20345 – Personal protective equipment, safety shoes
The standard EN ISO 20345 defines both the basic and additional requirements for safety shoes for commercial use. Footwear in accordance with EN ISO 20345 is intended to protect the wearer from bumps, crushing, falling or rolling objects, from walking into sharp or pointed objects, heat or cold, and hot substances.
Examples of aspects dealt with in the standard are handling mechanical risks, slip resistance, thermal risks and ergonomic properties. Additional standards relating to individual activities deal with risks in relation to footwear with electrical insulation, for example, and shoes to protect against chemicals, etc.
The basic requirements described in EN ISO 20345 include:
-
height of the upper
-
heel area on boots
-
minimum length, pressure and bump impact resistance of the toe cap
-
water vapour permeability and water vapour number of the upper
-
outsole thickness and abrasion resistance of the outsole
Safety footwear is divided into different protection classes depending on the requirements fulfilled. The safety footwear in protection class SB fulfil the minimum requirements in accordance with EN ISO 20345. Safety footwear with additional requirements are divided into protection classes S1 to S5 depending in the properties
What is EN ISO 20347 Certificate ?
When starting a new job, your employer might ask you to buy shoes that meet the safety specification of ISO 20347. This is the safety standard for occupational footwear. If you see a pair of shoes with this code, this means they meet all the specifications expected for occupational shoes.
Occupational footwear is not required to have steel or composite toe caps but they are expected to have:
-
Antistatic, fully enclosed and energy absorbing heel
-
Water absorption and penetration resistance
-
Cleated sole
-
Outsole resistance to fuel oil
In the basic requirements for occupational footwear, to meet the safety standards for leather shoes and other materials (excluding rubber and polymeric types), they have to be water resistant.
A common misconception people make when buying new shoes for work is that EN ISO 20347 describes all types of safety shoes but in fact this numeric standard only refers to occupational footwear.
They are not designed to protect the feet from heavy compression or impact force. If you need shoes that will keep feet safe whilst working in an environment that will put feet at risk from falling objects of weighty machinery, then you need to consider these other standards.
What jobs is EN ISO 20347 suited for?
As occupational footwear do not have integrated toe caps, they aren’t suitable for working on construction or manufacturing sites as they can’t protect your feet from heavy compressions or impact forces.
EN ISO 20347 occupational footwear is suitable for the following roles:
-
Restaurant
-
Bars
-
Food production
-
Hospitals
-
Butchers
-
Cleaners
With POLLY HYDROMIC, prevention of transport of bacteria and germs in meat and milk and all food sectors, continuity of the hygiene chain and delay of microbial spoilage of polyurethane boots. Safety and comfort are the most important points for business owners or managers when making a decision about the equipment worn by their employees. Business owners also want to know that the boots used by their employees can prevent cross contamination. Materials of the boot can play an important role in hygiene and anti-cross contamination, and they also can also help employees in terms of productivity. Cross contamination is usually the result of relocation. A carrier may be water, air and work clothes such as boots and gloves. For example, the operator’s boots may inadvertently contact a potential source of contamination, so it is extremely important what they wear and how easily they can be cleaned. Therefore, the boot material should consist of a smooth, non-porous surface. The accessories on the boot must also be avoided due to the carrying feature. The outer surface of the sole should not only be resistant against slip, but also make cleaning as quick and easy as possible. Before moving from one area to another, an employee must clean the bottom of the boot to avoid being a carrier for cross-contamination. The sole has a self-cleaning tread and is a big plus in these environments. Polyurethane boots are mostly polyester based polyurethane. The ester bonds in the polymeric structures of polyester-based PUs cause them to be easily affected by microbial attacks.
Microbial attacks are caused by mildew, fungi and germs in our environment. If the precautions are not taken, the useful life of boots gets shortened. POLLYBOOT, being aware of the situation, uses Antimic ( Polly Hydromic) to prevent these negative effects in its boots.
What is POLLY HYDROMIC Technology ?
POLLY HYDROMIC provides protection against the existing fungus, mildew, germs, bacteria and viruses by forming an elastic glassy protective shield layer in nano dimensions which are not visible and cannot be felt by hand. -POLLY HYDROMIC is a powerful anti-microbial preserving agent developed with Nano and Sol Gel technologies. -POLLY HYDROMIC forms an elastic glassy protective layer on the surface of the boots and stops the reproduction of all bacteria, viruses and germs. -POLLY HYDROMIC covers the surfaces of the boots with nano size small shields and prevents the bacteria form holding and prevents their reproduction due to long term effect. -POLLY HYDROMIC has proved its conformity with nature and human health (in contact with skin) by testing in international laboratories. Since it is not toxic and does not contain heavy metals, it has been reported to be both environmentally friendly and suitable for human health.
Features of POLLY HYDROMIC
• It’s not lost by washing and using. The protective layer formed by Polly Hydromic on the applied surface does not lose its effect on all kinds of cleaning materials and in daily usage conditions for a long time.
• It has a non transient, continuous antimicrobial effect.
• It reduces bacterial transfer.
• It prevents bacteria from growing.
• It stops the microbialisation of smells on the surfaces.
• It eliminates fungi that cause tinea pedis.
• It prevents odor formation.

INSULATION AND BREATHABLE FEATURE OF OUR POLLYBOOT BOOTS
* As a result of the tests we have done in our chemistry, R & D laboratory in our factory, we have proved the insulation and breathability of the polyurethane material we have used in the following pictures as a result of tests.
* SILICA GEL, which is normally purple, has a sensitive chemistry to air and moisture and has lost contact with air by means of silica gel polyurethane material in small jars. It was seen that the silica gel, which were purple, turned into pink and were transferred to the jar with air and moisture thanks to our polyurethane material.
* As a result of this test, we found that our boots provide insulation and breathability to the foot during the process of use and as a result we have exceeded the prevention of foot sweating and bad odor.
* As POLLYBOOT, we always continue our R & D activities for the satisfaction of our buyers & users.
Producers of livestock, show much attention and care for the hooves of their animals, but do not care to look at their feet. In fact, doctors also often mention how vital the personal care is. Milk producers spend a signi?cant portion of their working days on concrete. As well as their animals, this can also affect their health. Standing will result in the foot lying too much more, ie the arch of foot curls inward and turns inward. As the standing time increases, excessive biomechanical stress is applied to the joints and soft tissues of the feet. This results in painful situations on the feet itself, resulting in the soft tissue of the foot and the in?ammation of the metatarsal joints in the anterior part of the foot. However, this may cause ankle, knee, hip and even back pain. The starting point of any patient with a backache is the foot. In fact, anyone who has undergone inadequate unsuitable foot wear for long periods of time can cause in?ammation of the sole of the foot. Choosing the right boot is as important as choosing the right size. So make sure your boots aren’t too large, just the right size. The proper step here is to choose the right foot wear. It is very important to support the foot using a good pair of boots. Manufacturers should wear a boot that keeps the joints of the foot in a good biomechanical position, and a good boot protects the human health from these impressive factors. In this sense, it is very important that the boots are breathable. Good shock absorption is also important to prevent damage to the feet. Cold feet can cause circulatory problems, rubescence and other diseases. Therefore, the insulation must be very good. All these features with comfort are available in POLLYBOOT boots. Pay attention to yourself and your health by using POLLYBOOT.
